White Film on my Dishes

This is becoming a huge problem with consumers. I see this getting worse not better as the current soap stock runs out. As a service company this creates an issue. The customers don't believe us. They think we are just trying to get out of a call. They want it fixed. And the manufactures don't support us. They don't pay for customer education so the customer must pay or the small shop just eat the cost. (The customer is not going to pay)

Here is some information that might help satisfy 1 out of 5 customers. You will have to live with the other 4.

Automatic dish washing detergents are now phosphate-free to comply with various state regulations that
became effective July 1, 2010. The changeover in stores has been occurring gradually since late 2009.
Phosphates were added to detergents to sequester minerals in water and thus improve wash performance.
Detergents without phosphates tend to leave mineral deposits on glassware and other items, leading to
poor wash performance complaints. The deposits are in the form of a white film on glassware and other
items, even the dishwasher tub itself.
All phosphate free automatic dishwasher detergents appear to have this problem - some more so than others.
Independent testing has shown that packs and tablets appear to perform better than powder, liquid or
gel detergents. Cascade Complete All in 1 Action Packs is an example of a detergent pack product.
If a customer is using phosphate free detergent and has recently observed a white film developing on his/
her glassware, then we can safely assume phosphate free detergent is the problem. Please note that “film”
refers to a mineral build up and not etching as a result of using too much detergent.
The easiest way for the customer to remove the white film is to run their glassware and dishware through
a dishwasher cycle using citric acid. Use a WD35X151 citric acid kit. Pour the citric acid in the detergent
cup and close the cover. Place the filmed, but otherwise clean, glassware and dishware in the dishwasher.
Leave silverware and other metal items out of the dishwasher. Turn the dishwasher on and let it run
through a complete cycle without detergent. The glassware, dishware and dishwasher should come out
film free and with a sparkle.
The use of a rinse agent such as Cascade Crystal Clear may help minimize a repeat build up of film.
The automatic dishwasher detergent manufacturers are working to eliminate the phosphate free filming
problem. However, the problem will likely be with us for some time. Therefore, dishwasher owners may
have to repeat the citric acid rinse several times a year, especially if they are using a lower performing
detergent brand or are using the dishwasher without a rinse agent

Dryer Lint Cleaning

Dryer Vent Cleaning El Paso

Appliance safety: Clothes dryers can lead to trouble

The clothes dryer is an appliance many use on a daily basis, but few realize that unsafe use of that appliance can lead to trouble.

According to a release from the state Fire Marshal's Office, dryers or washing machines were the source of ignition of an average 15,300 home structure fires across the U.S. between 2003 and 2006. That includes an annual 16 deaths, 433 injuries and $201 million in property damage. Dryers were responsible in 92 percent of all cases.

The leading cause of these fires was a failure to properly clean dryer vents and the appliance.

Here are some tips from the Fire Marshal's office to safely operate your dryer and prevent a fire:

Have your dryer installed and serviced by a professional.

Do not use the dryer without a lint filter.

Make sure the lint filter is cleaned before or after each load of laundry. Remove lint that has collected around the drum.

Metal venting material should be used to sustain proper air flow and drying time.

The air exhaust vent pipe should not be restricted and the outdoor vent flap should open when the dryer is on. Annual dryer vent cleaning will make all the difference in the world!

Keep dryers in good working order. Gas dryers should be inspected by a professional to make sure that the gas line and connection are intact and free of leaks.

Make sure the right plug and outlet are used and that the machine is connected properly.

Follow the manufacturer's operating instructions and don't overload the dryer.

Turn the dryer off when leaving the home or going to bed.

Make sure the dryer is properly is properly grounded.

Check the outdoor vent flap to make sure it is not covered or blocked by objects such as outdoor furniture, bird's nests, etc.

Keep the area around the dryer clear of thinks that can burn like boxes, cleaning supplies, clothing, etc.

Clothes that have come in contact with flammable substances should be laid outside to dry and then be washed and dried.

About Carbon Monoxide:

Yes, a clothes dryer can be a carbon monoxide threat…Poorly vented fuel-burning appliances, including gas dryers, can emit dangerous levels of carbon monoxide.

Dryer vent cleaning prevents a number of home appliance hazards including dryer fires and mildew damage in homes. Dryer vent cleaning also prevents a number of health hazards including mold related illness and carbon monoxide poisoning. In addition, dryer vent cleaning can result in over $300 per year in energy savings. All this being considered, the fee for dryer vent cleaning is little compared to the many threats that can be eliminated.

Unfortunately, too few people think about dryer vent cleaning in spite of all the publicity about dryer fires. Dryer vent cleaning is important for the same reasons furnace cleaning is important. All fuel burning appliances like gas furnaces, water heaters and dryers must be adequately vented to prevent high levels of carbon monoxide from entering your home.

Dryer cleaning extends the life of their appliance and prevents expensive repair bills. Dryer cleaning promotes maximum dryer performance by improving air flow required to release heat and moisture from tumbling laundry. Reducing the stress and work load on a dryer can also save consumers a lot of money in energy costs.

Las Cruces Refrigerator Repair Experts’ Short List of Fall Holiday Dos and Don’ts

Posted on: 2 Oct 2014
Las Cruces Refrigerator Repair
Refrigerator Repair
With Halloween and Thanksgiving on the horizon, our refrigerator repair experts know that many of you may have a lot of different questions that need answering. For instance, some of you may wonder if it’s okay to store candy and caramel apples in the refrigerator. You can, by the way. Others may want to know how to refrigerate other holiday staples, like candy corn, raw turkeys and freshly baked pumpkin pies. So with that in mind, our team decided to scare up a few fall holiday dos and don’ts that involve household refrigerators:
Do avoid putting whole, raw pumpkins and other winter squash inside of the refrigerator because they simply won’t hold up. Various horticulture and food safety experts agree, it’s far better to store them alone at 50 degrees Fahrenheit instead. Depending on the species and the relative humidity, they may stay fresh for up to 6 months that way.
Don’t try to save time by buying your holiday turkey several weeks in advance, unless you plan on making good use of your home’s freezer. If you do choose to freeze one, make sure that you allow enough thawing time. For birds that are 16 pounds or more, that could mean letting them take up residence in your home’s fridge for anywhere from two to five days.
Do make it a point to refrigerate any freshly baked pies that are made with custard, meringue, cream and eggs. Just make sure that you let them cool on your kitchen counter first for a full 30 minutes. Oh, and it’s best not to store them in the fridge for more than three days. If you have to absolutely bake your holiday pies before that, go with a fruit version (e.g. apple). They tend to stay fresh in the fridge for approximately five days.
Don’t forget to check your refrigerator and freezer’s temperatures often to ensure that all of your holiday meals remain safe. And if they seem to be off kilter, don’t hesitate to contact us. Our refrigerator repair experts can help get various brands of fridges back in working order, so you won’t have to call off your celebration.

Texas Dryer Repair Pro’s Tips for Finding the Most Energy Efficient Machine

Dryer Repair Las Cruces New Mexico
Dryer repair las cruces, appliance repair
Dryer Repair Las Cruces

Scrimping and saving is something we’ve all been doing a little bit more of these days. Thankfully, there are ways to do it without feeling put out. One of them is taking the time to shop around for the most energy efficient laundry appliances on the market. Having been in the dryer repair business for more than 37 years, we’ve formulated a few thoughts on the subject:
In our experience, it is widely accepted that gas dryers tend to quickly reach temperatures higher than that of their electric counterparts. Thus, our customers can often get away with using shorter drying cycles, which will undeniably save them money. This is especially the case if the person also happens to be using a washer with a high spin speed. That’s because they tend to remove a lot of moisture from a load of wash.
But of course not all gas dryers are created equal. Therefore, it’s best to narrow down one’s choices to dryers that have an Energy Factor rating of 2.67 or better and key features. Ones that our dryer repair pros would suggest being on the lookout for are the following:
  • Large Load Capabilities/Removable Racks
  • Delayed Start/Timer Combination
  • Lint Filter Monitoring System
  • Moisture Sensor/Auto Dry
  • Noise Reducing Insulation
  • Cool-Down Cycle
  • Dual Heating Elements
  • Smart Usage Tracking
  • Remote Control Start/Stop
Each one has the ability to help the dryer be more efficient and effective over time. So ideally, the more energy saving features the appliance has, the easier it will be to look at the gas bill without cringing too much. Plus, it pays to consult with our dryer repair pros regarding the installation process and routine maintenance. To arrange an initial meeting with one of our team members about these topics and others, please contact us online or call (575) 636-2009.

3 Reasons Machine Drying Rubber-Soled Sneakers Could Lead to Dryer Repair

Dryer Repair
Las Cruces Dryer Repair Services

Las Cruces Dryer Repair

There’s no doubt about it. You love your rubber-soled sneakers and it shows. Unfortunately, it’s been showing a wee bit too much these days and now they’re in desperate need of laundering. So you remove the insoles and wash them first. Then you remove the laces, wash them by hand and brush off the loose dirt from the sneakers’ sides before tossing them into the washer. A run through the cold-water delicate cycle gets the sneakers sparkling clean without warping them but now they’ll need to be dried. Well, before you throw them into the machine, our dryer repair pros want you to stop and think. Here are three compelling reasons why:
1.) Spontaneous Combustion
Believe it or not, when the materials used to manufacture some brands of shoes are heated to certain temperatures, spontaneous combustion could occur. Yes, your beloved sneakers have the potential to burst into flames and cause a dryer fire. Some of the factors that may elevate the risk of this happening are dirty lint vents or clogged dryer ducts, the presence of trace contaminates in the fabrics and the temperature limits of the materials used in the sneakers’ manufacture.
2.) Melting and Warping
That brings us to the second reason why our dryer repair pros want you to refrain from tossing those kicks into the machine, melt temperatures. Nowadays, there are a variety of man made and synthetic materials that are used to manufacture sneakers and not all of them can withstand high temperatures. As a matter of fact, most will melt or warp when heated to temperatures that fall in the 100 to 347 degree Fahrenheit range. For proof, remember that last year a runner in Death Valley ended up with melted sneakers after letting the hot pavement make contact with the footwear during his normal run. Something similar also happened at the 2014 Australia Open.
3.) Shrink and Become Brittle
If the sneakers don’t burst into flames, melt or warp, they could shrink, crack or turn brittle. That’s because some sneakers contain elements like real or faux leather, which don’t respond well to heat either. So in other words, you’re favorite sneakers will end up clean, dry and ready for the trash. To learn more about this hot topic and others items that could prompt a call for dryer repair, please contact us at SoBellas Home Services Appliance Repair today.

Appliance Repair Post-Holiday Tip: Don’t Forget about the Trash Compactor

Appliance Repair Las Cruces New Mexico

Las Cruces Appliance Repair

Now that Thanksgiving dinner is nothing more than a turkey carcass and some potato peels, there is still at least one more task that needs to be done. Clean the trash compactor from top to bottom, inside and out. Otherwise, it could quickly become overrun with foul odors, salmonella and other harmful containment's. If you've never deep cleaned a trash compactor before, feel free to partake of our appliance repair team’s wise counsel:
Before you attempt to deep clean the trash compactor, its best to assemble everything that you’ll need to complete the job. Based on our 37+ years’ experience, we recommend gathering the following items:
  • Stainless Steel Cleaner (If Applicable)
  • Replacement Air Filter (If Applicable)
  • Antibacterial/Degreaser Dish Soap
  • Long Rubber Gloves (Heavy-Duty)
  • Disinfectant/Antibacterial Spray
  • Wet Dry Vacuum
  • Handheld Brush and Dust Pan
  • Lint Free Cloths
  • Replacement Compactor Bag
  • Baking Soda
Next, make sure that the trash compactor’s knobs are in the off position and temporarily cut the power. Then don your rubber gloves, remove and dispose of the old bag. Continue the task by completely removing the trash compactor’s drawer. Depending on the brand and model, you may need to move a few levers in the process.
Once the drawer is out, use the antibacterial and degreasing cleaners to remove any surface grime. In the event that cooking oil, grease, tomato sauce or other hard to clean items have gotten onto the drawer, you may need to use a concentrated cleaner or paste to remove them. Then rinse and dry the drawer before temporarily setting it aside.
While the drawer is out of the trash compactor, bust out the wet dry vacuum, handheld brush and dust pan. Use them to remove surface debris from the inside of the cabinet, door tracks and rollers. Proceed by using the cleaners and a series of lint free cloths to wipe away any residue. Then turn your attention towards the trash compactor’s ram and do the same.
Dry all of those components when you are through and put the drawer back into place. From there, you may replace the trash compactor’s bag and sprinkle a little baking soda inside of it. The baking soda may help stave off any future odors. While you are at it, replace any air filters or deodorizer packets that may be incorporated into the trash compactor’s design. Finally, close the trash compactor’s door and then clean it. Afterward, apply any stainless steel or appliance related polish as desired.

Refrigerator Repair Techs: What to Do If the Freezer Is On the Fritz

Refrigerator Repair Las Cruces New Mexico

Refrigerator Repair
Refrigerator Repair

Have you ever opened your freezer and noticed that everything on the top shelves is no longer frozen but the meats on the lower shelves are still as hard as can be? If not, you may want to count yourself among a select group of individuals as it’s a problem our refrigerator repair pros have run across many times before. When it does happen to your favorite kitchen fridge/freezer, you’ll need to act fast.
Our qualified refrigerator repair technicians suggest taking a look at the shelves in the upper portion of the freezer first. If they are covered in what looks like a layer of frost, remove all of the items and expect the packaging for damages. Then transfer the undamaged items to the bottom shelves and consider tossing the rest. Why? All of that frost buildup, coupled with the uneven cooling issue, could mean that there is a coolant leak somewhere. And if there is a leak, it may be necessary to repair or replace the entire refrigerator/freezer.
Should the top shelves look normal and frost free, the problem could be nothing more than a dry rotted, buckled, torn or otherwise damaged gasket. In those cases, the refrigerator repair service call will generally be very quick and relatively inexpensive. That’s because many refrigerator/freezer gaskets tend to cost less than $100 a package and installing them is a rather straightforward affair. So much so, that some experienced DIY enthusiasts have previously removed and replaced the gaskets without our refrigerator repair technicians’ assistance.
However, if the gasket removal and replacement job gets botched, it could cause other problems to occur. For example, other areas of the refrigerator/freezer could heat up, thereby causing bacteria growth and food spoilage issues to crop up in no time at all. So if you are the least bit hesitant about being able to complete the replacement project on your own, it’s best to leave it to our refrigerator repair technicians. To speak with a knowledgeable person about your refrigerator/freezer unit’s shelving issues, please contact us today. We have more than three decades of experience repairing a vast collection of home appliances, including built-in refrigerator/freezers.

Appliance Repair: Does Your Microwave Cut Off When You’re Reheating Leftovers?

Appliance Repair Las Cruces New Mexico
Appliance Repair Las Cruces

You’re on your own for dinner. So you’ve taken the leftover Chinese food out of the fridge, put it onto a plate and popped it into the microwave. But now there’s an unexpected crack in your fortune cookie to deal with. The microwave won’t stay on long enough to completely reheat your chicken lo mein, won ton soup, spring rolls and pineapple fried rice. The timer is set correctly and everything else seems fine, so what’s the deal? Our appliance repair technicians may be able to shed some light onto your microwave dilemma.
A lot of start and stop related problems tend to trace back to a microwave’s touch pad, control panel and central control board. After all, they are among the microwave’s hardest working components. It could be that the circuitry underneath of the touch pad’s surface has almost completely worn out due to heavy use. There could also be a short in the microwave control panels’ wires or an issue with the wall outlet you’re using to power the unit. They are all easily fixed.
If the touch pad and control boards appear fine, the microwave’s malfunction may be due to a faulty voltage transformer or temperature issues (e.g. overheating). Our appliance repair techs known with certainty that a microwave’s temperature issues are often resolved with the replacement of the unit’s thermostat or thermoprotector.
Depending on the microwave’s make and model, those parts we’ve mentioned above could prove to be quite costly. For instance, some touchpad and control panel assays tend to retail for more than $200 apiece. So if your microwave happens to be very old, and was inexpensive at the time of purchase, it may be more prudent to just replace it. Our appliance repair technicians will be more than happy to provide a price quote on parts and labor upfront. That way, you can decide whether or not a new microwave is in order.

Refrigerator Repair Pro Share 5 Important Facts That May Surprise You

Refrigerator Repair Las Cruces New Mexico

Refrigerator Repair Las Cruces New Mexico

Growing up around refrigerators and other household appliances often gives people the impression that their knowledge of each item is absolute. However, our refrigerator repair team knows that manufacturers are always coming up with something new. So unless a person makes a pointed attempt to stay on top of Frigidaire's latest developments, it’s very easy to be caught off guard. That said, here are five facts about Frigidaire refrigerators that may just surprise you:
1.) Hands Off the Ice Machine Augers
Did you know that most Frigidaire automatic ice dispensers feature very sensitive augers? Its true and we’ve known more than a few people that have accidentally knocked it out of alignment while trying to unclog their machine’s ice makers. If that happens to you, our refrigerator repair pros recommend putting the auger back into its proper position immediately. Otherwise, you could end up with a temperature problem and no ice.
2.) There May Be an Air Filter
When most people think of Frigidaire refrigerators, the last thing that comes to their minds is an air filter but it shouldn't be forgotten. Some of the company’s contemporary refrigerators come outfitted with air filters. Designed to help control odors, it is often located underneath of a refrigerator’s utility bin. Consequently, it will need to be replaced every so often.
3.) Don’t Use Three Common Cleaners
We all know that it’s important to clean our refrigerators but did you know that there are three common cleaners that should never make contact with your stainless steel appliances? They are alcohol, ammonia and bleach. All three could cause serious damage to the refrigerator’s components (e.g. handles and rubber gaskets).
4.) Shoot, Don’t Forget the Chute
While we are talking about cleaning the fridge, let’s not forget about the exterior ice chute extension. By design, it has a tendency to get and stay wet. So it’s necessary to clean and dry it periodically to prevent the buildup of bacteria, fungi and biofilm. For the most part, the chute extensions are removable, which makes them ultra easy to clean and reinstall at a moment’s notice.
5.) Interior Lights May Work in Unison
Lastly, our appliance repair pros wanted to share a word about Frigidaire refrigerators’ interior lighting systems. In a way, they work like holiday string lights. When one bulb goes bad, it could cause several of the ones around it to go out as well. The surrounding bulbs generally aren’t bad too. They just blink out due to the break in the lighting system’s connections. Therefore, never assume that just because many bulbs go out at a time, you’ve got a major electrical problem or need to replace them all.
To discover more things that you may not know about home appliances, please contact our refrigerator repair pro today. Our SoBellas Appliance Repair team is very approachable, courteous, knowledgeable and ready to help.

Appliance Repair: Is Your Oven Ready to Be the Workhorse of the Season?

Appliance Repair Las Cruces

Appliance Repair for the holidays
The holidays are prime oven time so we just have to ask, “Is yours ready to be the workhorse of the appliance repair team inspect it. They can calibrate the main oven, broiler and burners to make sure that they’re attaining, and retaining, the precise temperatures needed to cook all of your family’s holiday favorites. But calibration is not the only task that should be completed.
season?” One surefire way to tell is have our Las Cruces
Remember, air circulation and the oven’s cleanliness also plays a role in how well it is able to heat foods. Therefore, you may want to deep clean the oven and have its ventilation system checked out too. Plus, it you plan on utilizing the oven’s built-in timer and clock to calculate cooking times, its best to have our appliance repair team check them out a well. That way, you’ll be assured of a good start.
We also wanted to talk about trying to cook several items in the oven at one time. It is really not as tricky as most folks think. Once the oven is calibrated properly and you’ve chosen a temperature, it will heat all items evenly. So it really doesn’t matter, temperature wise, if you’re cooking one turkey or two. What does matter is how many times you stop and open up the oven door.
It’s an action that can obviously allow heat to escape, which in turn makes the oven temperature fluctuate. Those fluctuations, in turn, can screw up cooking times and make food less palatable. For proof, invest in an oven thermometer and place it into your oven. Then bring the oven up to temp and open the door for a second or two. After you close the door, look at the thermometer and you’ll quickly see what we mean. With that said, consider cooking holiday foods with similar cooking times and temperatures together (e.g. fruit pies). That should help cut down on the need to open the door often and keep dinner on schedule.
To learn more about having your oven calibrated and inspected in the weeks ahead, please contact our appliance repair pros now and set up an appointment.

Dryer Repair Pro’s Tips for Keeping Baby’s Clothes Intact and Looking Good

Las Cruces Dryer Repair
Appliance Repair
Las Cruces Dryer Repair

Every summer, the U.S. Department of Agriculture typically releases a report that examines the costs associated with raising children in the United States. In 2014, their research showed that on average, it will cost today’s new parents more than $245,000 to help each of their newborns reach the age of majority. At least 6% of that money will go towards clothing. Now 6% may not seem like a lot at first, but it is one area where parents may easily cut costs. For example, they could take steps to ensure that the clothing they purchase survives the washer and dryer. So with that in mind, our dryer repair pros wanted to share the following tips:
Pay close attention to the care labels that traditionally come attached to baby’s clothing. Not all of the materials used in today’s baby clothes are suitable for placement in a washer or dryer. For example, there are labels on some baby outfits that read, “Do Not Tumble Dry.” That’s typically there for one of two reasons. First, either the clothes will shrink or melt when exposed to high heat. Second, they have attachments (e.g. crotch snaps) that have a tendency to fall off or get caught onto other objects during the tumbling process. When that happens, the clothes may rip, stretch or otherwise fall apart.
In some cases, it may be possible to dry delicate baby clothes using special racks that are meant to either go inside or outside of the dryer. In other circumstances, turning baby’s tiny clothes inside out and placing them into a mesh dryer bag or hanging them outside on a line may do the trick. If you do decide to line dry baby’s clothes, be on the lookout for pollen and other airborne irritants that may have gotten onto the items in the process. They could irritate baby’s skin or respiratory system. If you find any traces of organic debris, rewash the clothes and then hang them up inside to dry instead.
Due to the flame-resistant nature of baby clothes, it’s a good idea to avoid fabric softeners as well. Why? They have a tendency to degrade the fire resistant chemicals used to treat baby clothes in the first place. Plus, some of the chemicals used in fabric softeners may irritate baby’s skin too and who wants that to happen?
Finally, before placing baby clothes into the dryer, give them a quick once-over. If any stains are present, don’t put them into the dryer just yet. Otherwise, the high heat will likely render them permanent. Instead, go back to the drawing board and try to remove as much of the stains as possible. Sometimes, taking those types of actions early on will truly help make baby’s clothes hand-me-down worthy instead of rag bag items.

Appliance Repair Pros Share Surprising Statistics About Microwave Oven Safety

Appliance Repair Las Cruces
Microwave Appliance Repair
Appliance Repair Las Cruces

Did you know that every day in this country, roughly 21 people visit a hospital’s emergency department due to injuries that they sustained from a microwave oven? It may seem hard to believe at first, but it’s true. Most visits involve burns but there are occasions when impact injuries are to blame. And that’s not all of the disturbing statistics that our appliance repair pros wanted to share in today’s blog post. It seems that microwaves are also responsible for a surprisingly large number of structure fires and direct property damage.
The National Fire Protection Association’s Fire Analysis and Research Division have been keeping track of microwave related fires for years. Their figures show that the seemingly innocuous kitchen appliances have a history of causing more than 7,000 fires annually, leading to more than $30 million in damages, substantial injuries to humans and minor loss of life. The most common reasons why may be traced back to electrical malfunction or outright appliance failure.
Over the years, entities like the World Health Organization have also expressed concerns over microwaves. However, they were more focused on the amount of radio waves being emitted from the appliances. It was believed that those waves could cause health problems, especially for those individuals outfitted with medical devices (e.g. pacemakers). At the time, it was believed that the frequencies emitted by the appliances and medical devices would react negatively with one another, thereby causing both to fail or otherwise malfunction.
In the years since their initial concerns cropped up, both the healthcare and appliance industry have taken a great number of precautions to significantly reduce those risks. As a result, radio wave exposure is only a concern now when microwaves are malfunctioning. Therefore, having an appliance repair team address any microwave problems early on will often eliminate potential RF exposure altogether.
To discuss microwave safety issues further and arrange to have our appliance repair techs inspect your residential kitchen equipment, please contact us at SoBellas today.

GE Appliance Repair Las Cruces: Turbo Freeze

appliance repair
Turbo Freeze Refrigerator Setting

GE Appliance Repair Las Cruces

Just the other day, our Las Cruces GE appliance repair team members were talking about all of the settings available on contemporary freezers. One setting that sometimes confuses people is Turbo Freeze. They wonder, “What is Turbo Freeze and why would I need to use it?” Given that, our team members wanted to share their answers:
To begin with, it’s a setting that temporarily alters the unit’s interior temperature for a designated period of time. The designated period of time varies from one brand of residential freezer to another. In some cases, it’s 24 hours and in others, it’s 72 hours. The time frame works hand-in-hand with the temperature setting assigned to the feature.
At this moment, we’re sure many of you think such a setting would be pointless when most of today’s freezers have built-in thermostats that people can control at will. While it is true there are built-in thermostats, the feature offers consumers something else. It’s the ability to “set it and forget it” in certain situations that warrant a temperature change. Which situations are those? Our GE appliance team is about to explain.
Although modern freezers are built to reach and maintain temperature, they are often things that temporarily prevent that from happening. For example, let’s pretend that someone opens up the freezer and stands there trying to decide whether to eat a pint of banana fudge ice cream or raspberry sorbet. The longer that person’s indecision lasts, the more cold air escapes into the kitchen.
Once the freezer door is closed, the setting helps reverse that situation. It instructs the cooling system to kick into overdrive until all of the cold air is restored. Then it automatically shuts off. Allowing it to go beyond that point would not be energy-efficient. Hence, that is why time allotments are built into the feature. To learn more about it or other matters related to freezers, please contact our Las Cruces GE appliance repair team members today.

Refrigerator Repair Tech’s Tips for Making the Most of Bottom Freezer Storage

Refrigerator Repair Las Cruces Pro Tips

Refrigerator Repair Las Cruces

Contemporary kitchen appliances give us the option of choosing models where the freezer is on top, adjacent to or underneath of the main refrigeration area. That said, organizing frozen foods is rather self-explanatory when it comes to side-by-side and top models but not the bottom ones. They’re a bit tricky because if filled the wrong way, the pull-out drawers may get jammed shut.
Understandably, that often leads to a service visit by our refrigerator repair Las Cruces techs. Although we are always happy to come out within 24-hours and professionally service refrigerators whose doors have accidentally been stuck shut, we know many of you would just rather avoid jammed drawers in the first place. So, we’ve put together a few organizational dos and don’ts for households with bottom drawer freezers:
Do remove the bulky packaging whenever possible and put frozen goodies in marked, resealable, freezer bags instead. It will not only save room but make it easier to quickly see at a glance which frozen foods need to be consumed first. Oh, and if you are worried about forgetting the manufacturer’s reheat instructions, stop. Simply cut them off of the box and slip the card into the freezer bag with the food items in question.
Don’t forget to freeze homemade and repackaged items as flat and thin as possible. Afterward, separate your bottom drawer in to designated sections and stick with it so you can store those freezer bags as close together as possible. For example, put frozen veggies on one side of the bottom freezer and frozen meats on the other.
Do utilize the top drawer or basket. Many modern-day, bottom freezer refrigerators come with long, shallow, wire baskets. To make the best of the drawer or basket, use it to store soups and small portion items that may be placed into diminutive, plastic containers (e.g. Chinese take-out pints). And don’t forget to put a label on the top of each container!
That’s our refrigerator repair tech’s bottom freezer storage tips for the day. To learn more about keeping your home’s freezer or fridge in tip-top shape, please contact us in Las Cruces today.

Dishwasher not working
Is your dishwasher not working?

The dishwasher is one of the best appliances to have. It frees up tons of time that you can enjoy with your family. Before the dishwasher, people were forced to spend an hour in front of the sink washing, drying, and putting away dishes. Now that time can be spent on more important things, like family game time. Although this is an amazing appliance, it can be equally dreadful when it is not working properly. If your dishwasher is acting strange, be sure to contact a Las Cruses appliance repair professional right away.

3 Signs Your Dishwasher Needs Repaired

1. Food lodged in the bottom: cleaning the food off of your dishes is very important. If you are not cleaning your dishes well, it is more likely that food will get stuck in the bottom of the dishwasher. This can cause major damage to the appliance if not properly taken care of.
2. The door doesn't close properly: over time you may notice that the door on your dishwasher is not shutting properly. This can be caused by numerous things. Sometimes the seal is not working well. This must be taken care of right away.
3. Dishes not coming out clean: there are numerous reasons for this, but one of the most common is that the seal on the door is not sealing properly so the dishes are not being cleaned well.

Rely on Maytag Appliance Repair Pros to Help Winterize Vacation Homes

Appliance Repair Las Cruses for Vacation Homes
Vacation Home Winter Repairs
Appliance Repair for the Winter

Sadly, it’s almost time to close up those vacation homes for the winter months. And that bittersweet task should include winterizing the properties’ appliances. Remember, appliances plug into vacation homes’ important systems, which are often tied to local service providers. Examples include gas, electric and water companies. So at the very least, those companies will need to shut off service until spring.
Maytag appliance repair companies have the ability to assist vacationers with winterization tasks too. First and foremost, they can help drain appliances of fluids that may freeze up during the cold weather. Drainage is essential because frozen fluids will expand and contract, which could damage appliances’ internal plumbing. Second, Maytag appliance repair businesses can check other substances and materials that have a tendency to respond poorly to cold weather. For instance, when exposed to prolong cold, motor oils and grease may begin to thicken or solidify. As a result, they are apt to breakdown as well as gum up or degrade any parts that they routinely come into contact with during normal use.
Third, service professionals can work with utility service providers to help ensure that electrical components won’t cause fires while homeowners are away. Our Maytag team can check the appliances’ inner workings as well as the utility feed to the point of entry. The utility service provider can then check the remaining portion of the delivery system before shutting it down for the winter. Afterward, any fire risk should be completely mitigated.
Fourth, Maytag experts can take steps to prevent animals and the winter elements from entering vacation homes through appliance ventilation systems. Obviously, it is crucial to keep those two things out of vacation homes. After all, the animals can chew internal components and moisture may cause fungal growth or electrical shortages. To learn more about why Maytag appliance repair companies should be called in to help winterize vacation homes, please contact SoBellas Appliance Repair.

Sub-Zero® Refrigerator Repair: Troubleshooting Built-ins is Easy for the Pros

Subzero refrigerator repair Las Cruces
Sub Zero Refrigerator Repair

Sub-Zero® manufactures a number of refrigerator and freezer combinations. Among the most popular are refrigerator and freezer drawers. People love them because they traditionally take up so little floor space. They take up precious little square footage because they are generally installed underneath of counter tops and inside of kitchen islands.
For the homeowner, this may seem like it would make Sub Zero refrigerator repair difficult. However, our Sub-Zero refrigerator repair team in Las Cruces is here to say that from a professional’s perspective, working on the company’s built-in drawer models is not as difficult as it initially appears. As experts in the field, we’ve been trained to troubleshoot all Sub Zero refrigerators, including the smallest built-ins.
In general, there are only a handful of things that typically go wrong with Sub Zero built-ins. They tend to fall in at least one of the following categories:
  • Water Dispenser Production or Water Quality Problems
  • Refrigerator and Freezer Drawer Odors
  • Ice Production or Ice Quality Issues
  • Frost or Condensation Woes
  • Electrical Problems
  • Cooling and Heating Issues
  • Interior Lighting (e.g. Bulb Burns Out)
  • Food/Beverage Odors and Food/Beverage Quality Problems
Our Sub Zero refrigerator repair Las Cruces team is familiar with them all. For example, discolored ice is generally a sign that there’s a problem with the home’s plumbing system, or more specifically, the refrigerator’s water supply line. Oftentimes, such problems are corrected by a combination of water conditioning and supply line repair or replacement.
As far as the food and beverage issues go, they are frequently corrected without making a frantic call to our Sub-Zero® refrigerator repair experts. Sometimes it is a matter of cleaning and defrosting the machine. In other instances, homeowners may need to use better refrigerator or freezer storage containers to help keep burn and odor issues to a minimum. To learn more about Sub Zero refrigerator repair and general maintenance, please contact us online or by phone in Las Cruces. Our team of built-in refrigeration experts will get back to you right away.
